What Are Heated Tobacco Products ?

The option of heating tobacco instead of burning it has been around for a long time. After years of research and development at Philip Morris International (PMI), the idea has finally materialized until now there is an alternative to burnt tobacco products for adult consumers to enjoy from tobacco products or other consumers of nicotine products.

The selection of burned tobacco products is considered more dangerous. Because the combustion process reaches a temperature of 600°C at the tip and can reach above 800°C when smoked. It is this combustion process that releases harmful and potentially harmful chemicals into the smoke inhaled by consumers of tobacco products.

In contrast, IQOS heats tobacco to a temperature up to 350°C and produces the original tobacco taste without fire, ash and smoke. By heating without burning tobacco, the IQOS tobacco heating system produces no smoke and produces 95% lower levels of harmful chemicals on average compared to burned tobacco products*. However, this does not mean that IQOS is a risk-free product.

Another advantage of IQOS is that it smells less than burning tobacco products, minimizing the possibility of disturbing those around you. By heating tobacco without burning it, IQOS does not produce secondary smoke that comes from burning cigarettes and can be inhaled by others.

What Are Heated Tobacco Products?

Heated tobacco products or Heat-Not-Burn products operate exactly as their name implies: heating the tobacco without burning it.

IQOS Device Options

Currently, there are three IQOS devices available in two different versions. The first version has two main components, namely the holder and pocket charger. The second version of the device is an integrated all-in-one that combines a holder and a pocket charger. IQOS is intended for adult smokers who will continue to enjoy tobacco or use other nicotine products.

The first IQOS device is our most advanced IQOS device, the IQOS 3 DUOS. The IQOS 3 DUOS holder provides two consecutive tobacco experiences without needing to recharge the holder and 20 tobacco experiences in total before needing to recharge the pocket charger. The second IQOS device, the IQOS 3 Multi is an integrated product that combines a holder and a pocket charger. This pocket-friendly all-in-one device offers 10 consecutive sessions* of tobacco smoking before needing to be recharged. How Does IQOS Device Work ?

All IQOS devices work the same way: first, insert the tobacco stick into the holder. Next, press the button to turn on the holder until it vibrates and then inhale on the heated tobacco stick. Once the tobacco stick is finished, simply remove it from the holder and throw it away.

Our Commitment to High Quality

Providing adult users with a high quality tobacco experience is our primary focus and the way we process tobacco is what makes it different. The tobacco inside each tobacco stem is specially prepared using a unique patented processing method, called the 'Cast Leave Process', which is required to optimize the tobacco for heating. In this process, the finest quality tobacco leaves are ground into powder and then dissolved into tobacco sheets. These sheets are then crimped and made into tobacco plugs which, when combined with all the other parts, will produce tobacco sticks.
