We often get asked, is IQOS ILUMA a vape?

While both devices are smoke-free alternatives to cigarettes for adult smokers, the answer is no, IQOS ILUMA and a vape are not the same thing.

What is the difference between IQOS ILUMA and vapes? We list them below.

1. Technology.
IQOS ILUMA is a tobacco heating product. The innovative SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ technology heats tobacco instead of burning it. While vapes, also called electronic cigarettes, work by heating and evaporating special liquids.

2. Tobacco.
IQOS ILUMA uses tobacco made from natural tobacco leaves that undergo special processing and are pressed into sticks. The heating process releases the taste of real tobacco without burning. TEREA tobacco sticks are not risk-free and addictive; they contain nicotine, which is a component of natural tobacco.

Vapes do not use tobacco, but special liquids available in a wide range of flavors. Some vaping liquids may also contain nicotine.

3. Feelings.
With IQOS ILUMA, you get a feeling similar to smoking cigarettes. IQOS ILUMA provides the real taste of tobacco and the satisfaction of using it. TEREA sticks are designed for about 14 puffs, which is almost equivalent to a cigarette. Vapes provide a completely different experience thanks to the use of vaping liquids.

4. Product range.
At the moment, a number of devices for heating tobacco are available to choose from - IQOS ILUMA and lil SOLID Ez. Some IQOS devices have a separate holder and charger, while other models combine these components. With a variety of features, adult smokers can choose the device that suits them best.

IQOS ILUMA is not a vape

IQOS ILUMA is not a vape, but a device that is the best alternative to cigarettes. Most of the harmful substances contained in cigarette smoke are released as a result of the combustion of tobacco. Unlike cigarettes, tobacco does not burn in IQOS ILUMA, which means no smoke is formed. IQOS ILUMA emits on average 95% less harmful substances compared to cigarettes.*
