While smoking on a first date might be something to avoid, what’s the etiquette with e-cigarettes? The best port of call when it comes to vaping and dating someone new is probably just to be honest and upfront with them about it. Many might consider it a deal-breaker, so etiquette says it’s something to get out of the way quickly, rather than pushing an uncomfortable conversation further down the line.
Once the truth is out there, there’s a chance your date won’t mind vaping. Perhaps they are glad that you’ve taken a bold step on the path to stop smoking cigarettes and have now transitioned to vaping or e-cigarettes instead.
Always be sure that if you, your date, or both of you do vape, you’re vaping in a location accepting it. Usually, this would be outside or in a well-ventilated area not classified as indoors or at an establishment which specifically allows vaping and e-cigarettes.
Vape Friendly First Date Location Ideas
It’s a great idea to look for vape-friendly locations if you, your partner, or both of you vape. Perhaps the bar, restaurant, or pub nearby allows vapes. This would make it convenient for both of you because nobody would get left on their own or feel the need to pop outside from time to time. Most places that offer outdoor areas with fresh air will allow vapes, so that’s also something to consider.
Smoking in the UK is banned in enclosed public spaces and has been since 2007[1]. It’s incredibly likely, almost to a certainty, that establishments will treat vapes in the same way. If you do vape, you’ll probably need to do it outside with the smokers. It might also be an idea to give it a miss entirely. Hopefully, our guide has been able to help you decide whether or not it’s best to vape on a first date, but what about heated tobacco?
