How to Look After Your IQOS Device

When you use your IQOS device, it’s important to look after it. It’s easy to look after your IQOS properly, and here we’ll explain how to do so. From keeping it clean to charging it properly, here’s how to look after your IQOS device.

How Do I Take Care of my IQOS Device?

There are a few key pointers that will help you take care of your IQOS device, and we’ll go through them all here.

Before looking at the steps to taking the best care of your IQOS, it’s important to note that all IQOS products undergo comprehensive safety tests before they go onto the market, with all materials tested and assessed and all components meeting high safety standards.

So, while IQOS is not risk-free, and the best option for any smoker is to stop smoking altogether, your IQOS device and battery meet high safety standards – all that’s needed is to follow some simple steps to help look after your IQOS and ensure that it remains in great condition.

Maintain and Clean Regularly

To look after your device and make it last for longer, it’s important to clean your device on a regular basis – we’ll outline how to clean your device below – and keep up with any maintenance.

In our IQOS stores, we offer a complimentary IQOS cleaning service too.

Unplug IQOS When it is Fully Charged

You risk damaging the battery if you keep your IQOS charging once it’s fully charged, so to keep your IQOS in good condition, it’s important to unplug it once it’s finished charging – so don’t leave it charging overnight.

It might not be quite as convenient, but it’ll help you look after your device in the long term.

Don’t Let the Battery Run Out Before Charging

At the same time, you shouldn’t let the battery run out before you begin charging your device, as this can also negatively affect it.

You’ll likely need to recharge your IQOS after around 20 uses, which should be when you finish a pack of HEETS too.

Store Your IQOS Out in a Cool Dry Place

Just as you wouldn’t keep a smartphone or any other electronic device in a damp or wet place or let it have too much exposure to the elements, you shouldn’t with your IQOS either. Instead, you should keep it in a cool and dry place when you’re not using it.

Keep Your IQOS at the Optimal Temperature

Likewise, it’s best to keep your IQOS at the right temperature. Cool is best – you don’t want your IQOS to get too hot, while if it’s too cold this can also negatively affect your device.

Only Use HEETS for IQOS

HEETS tobacco sticks should be used with your IQOS device. Don’t use other tobacco sticks or cigarettes, as they’re not specifically designed for IQOS and could damage the device itself.

HEETS are easy to use – just insert a stick into the holder with the tobacco stick facing downwards when you begin, and remove the tobacco stick and dispose of it when you’re done. There are ten different HEETS variants too, so there’s plenty of choice without needing to use anything else in your IQOS.

Get Support if Unsure

If you’ve got an issue or you’re not sure about something, you can get support. Take a look at our FAQs, as you might find that other IQOS users have had the same question, or get in touch with us.

Our dedicated customer care team is here seven days a week, from 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. How Do You Keep IQOS Clean?

For the optimal heated tobacco experience, it’s important to keep your IQOS device clean – tobacco residue may build up inside the IQOS Holder after repeated use, so it’s worth cleaning it on a regular basis. Fortunately, cleaning IQOS is simple.

Don’t begin the cleaning process right after you’ve used your device – leave it to cool first. Then, remove the cap and tap the holder to remove any tobacco that might be inside – if there’s any in the cap, you can use IQOS cleaning sticks

Then, open the cleaning tool and insert the brush into the holder. Rotate gently a few times. Finally, if there’s still any residue remaining, you can wipe around the blade with a cleaning stick.

If the area around the blade inside the holder looks white or grey, without a dark coating or any sign of particles, you’ve done a good job of cleaning the device.

You shouldn’t use any other utensils, like toothpicks or cotton buds, to clean your device, as these can damage it. While there’s an IQOS cleaning tool and IQOS cleaning sticks in each IQOS starter kit, if you run out you can buy more online, while cleaning sticks can be found in some newsagents and supermarkets too. For more information, you can find our guide to cleaning IQOS here.

What is the Lifespan of IQOS?

As a guideline, the battery in the IQOS charger should last for around 7,000 charging cycles, and the holder will charge around 20 times per cycle.

However, this isn’t a hard and fast rule, and it’s based on the user’s intake. Hence, the lifespan of IQOS may vary depending on how often you use it and how you charge and look after your device.

As explained, it’s important to unplug your IQOS when it’s fully charged and to make sure that you don’t let the battery run out before charging, but using it regularly also helps your IQOS to last longer. By doing so, you aren’t allowing the battery to drain, so it’ll always have the right level of power for the best heated tobacco experience.

Hopefully, you should now know how to best look after your IQOS device, but if you’d like more information on how to use it, don’t forget to take a look at our guide here, or check your IQOS device manual.
