How to fix low or no IQOS aerosol issues

A visible cloud of aerosol is generated when you use IQOS.

The volume of vapour created is influenced by several factors, including how you puff and your device’s performance. In this article, we explore the possible causes of little or no IQOS aerosol, and what you can do for optimal vapour delivery to improve your experience.

 

Reasons for low or no IQOS aerosol creation

If your device is producing some vapour when you puff, but not as much as it should, there are several reasons why this can happen, such as a low battery, debris in the device, or the stick being inserted incorrectly.

The low volume of IQOS aerosol generated might be caused by:

Puffing style:

  • You puff too quickly without pausing between puffs, so the device doesn’t have enough time to heat up the LEVIA or TEREA stick.

Stick issues:

  • The LEVIA or TEREA stick is damaged or dried out.
  • The LEVIA or TEREA stick is inserted incorrectly and it’s not making contact with the heating element.

Device issues:

  • The device is turned off or not charged enough to deliver a full experience.
  • Device malfunction is preventing your IQOS from heating the LEVIA or TEREA stick.
  • The device’s battery may have degraded affecting performance; it cannot heat up to the required temperature.
  • You’re operating the device outside of its optimal temperature range (0-40 degrees Celsius).
  • There’s a buildup of residue or debris is stuck in the device, which obstructs heating and airflow.
     

Tips to resolve IQOS issues for optimal aerosol delivery

  1. Check the battery: Ensure your device is sufficiently charged up for a full experience, using a compatible charging cable and AC power adaptor. Shop charging accessories.
  2. Use the right stick: IQOS ILUMA devices are designed to work only with SMARTCORE STICKS, while previous IQOS generations work with HEETS sticks. If you use a non-compatible stick, the device will not be able to heat it at all.
  3. Keep sticks fresh: Your experience will be affected by how LEVIA or TEREA sticks are stored and the environmental conditions they’re exposed to. For optimal experience, store your LEVIA or TEREA in a clean, dry, and cool place, keep the pack closed, and keep them away from high humidity and direct sunlight.
  4. Use a new stick: Try using a new stick from a closed pack to see if the issue persists. Do not use sticks that were kept in humid or very dry conditions. Note: LEVIA and TEREA sticks are single-use only and cannot be reused.
  5. Preheat your device: Before you start puffing, IQOS ILUMA must heat up the stick for 20 seconds to enable aerosol creation. It either starts automatically, or (if needed) by pressing the button for 1 second. Start puffing only after the second vibration which indicates that the stick has been sufficiently preheated.
  6. Pause between puffs: The device needs time between puffs to heat up the stick. Allow a few seconds between puffs so that aerosol can form.
  7. Ensure proper stick insertion: Insert the LEVIA or TEREA stick in the right orientation and avoid moving it during an experience. If you accidentally move the stick, your device may stop generating aerosol.
  8. Clear the heating chamber: Check if there’s any residue stuck inside the device.
